I forgot to add in my last blog, I had not told my children that I was taking an ADHD med. Tonight I was explaining to Joshua how my medicine helps me and how I get little tired when it wears off, and my two middle children (13 & 18) overheard. Not that I was keeping it from them, it just didn't seem relative. What I waned to share was that as we were talking about it, my wife mentioned that she now indeed sees a difference. She said I am much calmer, I don't lose my temper as easily. A couple of weeks ago, almost a month on Concerta, I found that someone had keyed my car. I called my wife to let her know what time I would be home, and mentioned it. She expected me to blow a gasket and my comment was, well, what are you gonna do. Because, seriously, what was there to do.On Sunday afternoon, my daughter called from Conroe, about 5 hours away, she was crying and said that her car had started making this grinding noise and smoke was pouring from the hood. I told her get out of the car, she said that there was no shoulder due to construction and the cars were buzzing around her and she was afraid that she would get hit. I had there wherewithal to tell her to hang up and dial 911 and the police would come and get her out of the car safely, but if she saw flames, find a way to get out of the car. I hung up and waited for her to call back. Long story short, the police came, got her out and a very nice tow truck driver pulled her to the parking lot where she works at no charge. My brother in law came and took her in hand by the time they were about to tow her (thank the Lord for family). He checked the car and her water pump had failed, the car overheated as she was trying to get it out of traffic. Engine shot. Again, even though the car might have blown a gasket (ha, ha?) I didn't. In fact, my blood pressure is actually improving rather than rising because of the stimulant.Interesting times, just another benefit from properly treating ADHD.
